Rebecca and Chelios

Highs and Lows of '08

Posted 2008-08-03

Rebecca teamed up with the Cimarron son Chelios at the beginning of the year showing tremendous partnership potential. The made their Training debut at the April Twin Rivers Horse Trials where they dominated a large division of young riders from start to finish winning with no penalties added to a great dressage score. Accumulated points from this one out had them sitting 5th in the Nation for Junior Training Riders. But sadly Chelios incurred a suspensory injury and was out for the next several months. They were all set to return this summer when disaster struck. While schooling a preliminary cross country obstacle at the Woodside Horse park Chelios got a bad distance to a simple fence banking it and flipping head first on the landing side. Luckilly he did not land on Becca though they both took a severe impact sustaining injuries that will have them out for the remainder of the season. Rebecca suffered a lacerated liver with internal bleeding and spent two days in ICU for close observation. She is recovering at home but is not permitted any physical activity for 3 to 6 months. Chelios suffered a severe whiplash affect to his neck and is also facing a prolonged recovery and rehabilitation. We appreciate the prayers and support of our family and freinds during this difficult time.
